Artists rendering of our cabinets.

This morning I meet with the Cabinet and Granite Company and they gave me some pictures of our cabinets and the layout. One of the problems with our current kitchen currently is that we do not have enough drawers and have some wasted space.
With our new layout this will eliminate most of the wasted space.  This was done by putting in a Lazy-Susan and some drawers and pullouts in. The drawing does not have our windows in it but I think you can tell where they will be. I have included a picture of the granite and cabinet color/ style that we have picked out. It was easy for us to pick out the Granite but picking the cabinet (color and style)  was almost overwhelming.

One of the changes to the cabinets from the current ones is the face that we are having drawer banks on either side of the stove.  In order to make this even we will have to move the stove 5 or 6 inches away from the sink and dishwasher.
This picture shows the sink and dishwasher.  To the right of the sink we will have a built in 2 basket trash can.  I am really looking forward to this.
This is the pantry and refrigerator currently we have a cabinet depth cabinet over the refrigerator so having one that is deeper will help in keeping things clean.  I look forward to any comments or questions that you might have about our project.

Starting a road to a new kitchen

As some of you may know my dish washer leaked and caused some damage to my kitchen. This was reported to my insurance company in July.

Over the next month I had my floor torn up, mold removed from under my kitchen sink, and a dishwasher taken. After talking to the appliance repair guy he found the problem to be a small crack in the bottom left side of the tube, because it was small the leak has probably been there for a few months. Not knowing the amount of money that I would get from the insurance company I had to come up with a plan A, B, C.
Plan A
This is the conservative plan were the flooring is just replaced. Cost $2000
Plan B
This plan has the floor being replaced and the cabinets painted and fixed. Cost $3000
Plan C
Plan C is the one that I am hoping for this will include replacing the flooring, cabinets, and counters. Cost $14,000

Last weekend we went to Sears to pick out a new oven and microwave hood. This was a hard choose but we have chosen them out, later I will buy them once the insurance has been settled with. I have also got quotes for cabinets and counters for the kitchen and will finalize that next week. I hope to post more as we choose different parts of our new kitchen.
