Over the past three weekends I have been working with Larry, a local contractor, installing the back splash in my kitchen. The designer that we chose told us that we would need to have the tile in a diagonal pattern and would need pendants to break up the pattern. Since I have never done tile before I wanted to help and learn how. First we started by laying out that pattern and doing calculations on the first cut, because the first cut was the basics for all of the pattern. After we lied the first tile the pattern went smoothly. Tile cutting was easier than I though, if you try just make sure that you do not rush things because the tile will break under the pressure. The last weekend was spent grouting the tile, I though that this process would talk a lot longer than it did and it turned out to be easier than I thought. After it dried I had to come back through with a cheese cloth to clean up the excess grout. This turned out to make a bunch of dust so I had to take it slow. Next up is taking off the wall paper and painting.
